Jimdo provides two different website-building experiences: Jimdo Creator and the newer Jimdo Website Builder. Jimdo Creator supports custom HTML and JavaScript, while the newer Jimdo Website Builder does not currently support custom HTML, JavaScript, or external widget embed code.
The steps below are specifically for Jimdo Creator.
Step 1: Register Your Jimdo Website with Barriano
Register your Jimdo website with Barriano and complete the website registration process.
After registration, Barriano will generate a unique installation script for your website. Copy the script to your clipboard or save it as a text file.
Your installation script will look similar to the following:
<script
src="https://widget.barriano.com/ada-widget.embed.min.js?YOUR_UNIQUE_KEY"
async>
</script>
Replace YOUR_UNIQUE_KEY with the unique key generated for your website.
If your Jimdo website has already been registered, sign in to your Barriano dashboard, select the relevant website, and copy its existing installation script.
Note: Add a screenshot showing the Barriano dashboard, the installation script, and the Copy button.
Step 2: Open Your Jimdo Creator Website
Sign in to your Jimdo account and select the website where you want to install the Barriano Accessibility Widget.
Click Edit to open the website in Jimdo Creator editing mode.
Note: Add a screenshot showing the selected Jimdo website and the Edit button.
Step 3: Open the Edit Head Section
From the Jimdo Creator editor, open:
Menu → Settings → Edit Head
Jimdo Creator allows custom code to be added to the Edit Head section.
Note: Add a screenshot showing Menu → Settings → Edit Head.
Step 4: Add the Barriano Installation Code
Paste your Barriano installation script into the Edit Head code area.
<script
src="https://widget.barriano.com/ada-widget.embed.min.js?YOUR_UNIQUE_KEY"
async>
</script>
Do not modify the script URL or remove the unique website key.
Click Save to apply the changes.
Note: Add a screenshot showing the Barriano script pasted into the Edit Head section and the Save button.
Step 5: Preview Your Website
Open or refresh your Jimdo website and verify that the Barriano Accessibility Widget has been installed successfully.
Confirm that:
- The Barriano accessibility icon is visible.
- The widget opens correctly.
- The accessibility features work as expected.
- The widget appears on all required pages.
- The widget works properly on desktop and mobile devices.
Note: Add a screenshot showing the Barriano Accessibility Widget on the live Jimdo website.
Important: Jimdo Website Builder
If your website uses the newer Jimdo Website Builder rather than Jimdo Creator, custom HTML, JavaScript, and external widget embed code cannot currently be added.
For websites that require custom code or third-party accessibility widgets, use Jimdo Creator where this functionality is supported.
You’re All Set!
The Barriano Accessibility Widget is now installed on your Jimdo Creator website.
Your visitors can now personalize their browsing experience according to their accessibility needs, helping make your website more inclusive and accessible to a wider audience.
